If you do feel so bad, I have a solution for you. Try spending some time with him. If you really don't want to answer prayers, simply taking him somewhere should ease his mind.

You think it's that simple? Kija won't nora for anyone. You're just like the rest of us, pulled into this system without a choice. It's not beautiful if you refuse to take responsibility.

Women are beautiful, but if you're someone who's only approaching them selfishly, then you might need a lesson even in that.
I'm not a guy who likes to resort to violence, you know? It's not too much to ask someone to treat their good friends like people rather than nuisances.

Let's get on the same page really quick. I'm not trying to treat your friend as a nuisance-- I'm trying not to treat him as a weapon. This whole concept of otherwise independent people losing their identities just for the sake of someone with a god complex who's too much a coward to act themselves is distasteful to me. I don't want Kija doing what I tell him to do because he's supposed to, or something stupid like that. Ideally, he ought to be able to make his own choices. He could even act against me, if he thought that was best. God knows, my colleagues have thought so in the past.
Since that's not going to happen, then, I suppose I'll have to start taking his advice. The adjustment period might go on a little longer, however-- do forgive me.

That's all fine and good, but you're missing something. Rather than selfishly telling yourself that you're doing a good thing by ignoring him, and that you're being forced into this, realize that you're in a partnership. It's forced on both sides. Pity isn't going to do anything for him or for you.
Don't use him as a weapon, but don't cast him aside, either. Think of it as an assigned partner and you'll do much better, I think.

Most everyone is disturbed by it, whether it's all they know or not. Some handle it better than others, of course, but don't make the mistake of thinking that we shinki need your guidance and self-restraint to have better lives.
